Minions Take Over Illumination Avenue at Universal Orlando Resort
Calling all Minion fans and mischief-makers! Get ready to dive headfirst into a world of mayhem and fun. Is it your first time in Minion Land? Or maybe you have already visited Gru’s house and learned how to be a minion on the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride. Whether you’re a newcomer or you have already passed your training class buckle up (or should we say, banana up?) for a whirlwind tour of Illumination’s Minion Land on Illumination Avenue, the Minionverse come to life. You might even get to sleep in a missile bed at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel (more on that later).
Oh, and I hope you’re ready to take it to the next level at Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast. The Vicious 6 definitely are: duke it out with Belle Bottom, Jean Clawed, and the rest of the gang in this Illumination’s Minion Land mainstay. There is plenty to do after the battle too, whether you’re headed to Minion Café for some food or shopping for the latest in felonious fashion at Evil Stuff.
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast
This big bad convention gets you hands-on experience with the latest innovation in blaster tech: the standard-issue E-Liminator X. Test your skills and blast your way to supervillain stardom. Your blaster can even sync with the official Universal Orlando Resort app, allowing you to keep track of your scores, accept challenges, and unlock new ways to play. Get those fingers warmed up and prepare to stake your claim atop the leaderboard of villains!
If leaderboard levels of villainy seems ambitious to you, perhaps a training class can help you prepare. Luckily, there’s one right across Illumination Avenue at the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride! There’s no better place to learn the ins and outs of being a Minion than from Gru himself in his super villain laboratory.
Like every other convention you have visited, Villain-Con gives you the chance to leave with bags of swag — just stop by Evil Stuff, the merchandise shop counterpart to Minion Mayhem’s Super Silly Stuff store right across Illumination Avenue. Stocking all kinds of goodies for all kinds of baddies, Evil Stuff sells everything you need to be a sharp-dressed supervillain and more! And don’t worry too much if evil isn’t your favorite flavor of fashion: the Super Silly Stuff store sits opposite Evil Stuff and carries merch for any Minion trainees who may have moral qualms about calling themselves full-fledged villains.
Dining in Minion Land
All that villainy can work up quite a voracious appetite! Fortunately, Illumination’s Minion Land has food options for everyone. Bake My Day is the eye-catcher on the corner when you walk out of Evil Stuff — this pink patisserie serves up minion-themed sweets and a colorful merchandise selection to boot. If you prefer a cooler treat to beat the Florida heat, Freeze Ray Pops is a walk-up window next door to Bake My Day where you can get a blast of frosty refreshment from a variety of tasty popsicles and ice-cold drinks. Illumination’s Minion Cafe is the hottest spot on the block, featuring more substantial offerings such as Otto’s Noodle Bowl or the iconic Minion Tots. Here, you can also order a couple of specialty beverages: our favorite so far, aptly-named The Antidote, tastes just like a banana cream pie and is the perfect way to cool off in the parks!
