Loews Regency New York Hotel's Concierge Awarded Women In Tourism Honoree by CityGuideNY
Kathleen Nugent-Harris wins for Hotel Concierge category
Loews Regency New York Hotel is proud to announce that Kathleen Nugent-Harris, a member of the concierge team has been awarded Best Hotel Concierge for the CityGuideNY's Women in Tourism Awards.
Nugent-Harris has been with the property for the past 37 years. Not only is she one of the hotel’s longest standing team members, but she was also the first female concierge to be hired at the hotel nearly four decades ago.
Throughout her career with Loews, she has made the impossible possible for hotel guests from around the world. Some of her most memorable stories include her able to execute the creation of a special hood ornament for a guest’s vehicle. In order to make this happen, she contacted the dealer directly and have them create this unique ornament with the dealers help. Once it was completed it was shipped it back to their home in Africa. Hotel guests are always visiting to mark celebratory events and holidays and when one guest requested their guestroom to be decorated for the holidays in a specific décor, Kathleen was determined to go above and beyond for them. Kathleen researched the guest to learn about their taste and style and based on what she found she was able to decorate the guestroom and WOW the guests.
In another instance, a guest, who was traveling from South America, had left their wallet filled with cash in cab and thought it would never be returned. Kathleen went above and beyond to find out the cab that took the guest from the hotel and contacted the cab company to get the driver’s information. She contacted the taxi driver directly, and was able to get the wallet returned to the guest at the hotel. They were overwhelmed by this kindness as they needed this money for their daughter’s medical visits while they were in New York. Lastly, she was able to get theater tickets for shows that were sold out through her vast networking!
Kathleen is dedicated both at work and her personal time. She has been a member of Clefs d’Or A for over 25 years and is a member of the NYCAHC (New York City Association of Hotel Concierges). In her personal life, Kathleen loves to travel and expose herself to new cultures and things. She has lived on four continents (North America, South America, Africa and Europe) and is in fact is fluent in French and Spanish.
Having been with the hotel for nearly four decades, Kathleen is extremely well known among the hotel’s clientele and when our guests return, they specifically ask for Kathleen and only Kathleen. She knows and understands the guest’s needs and often exceeds their expectations. This has evolved into welcoming a new generation of hotel guests, as she now welcomes their children that now choose the Loews Regency New York Hotel due to her rapport as their home away from home.
Kathleen is self-driven and a leader in her department. Kathleen is the epitome of a women in hospitality who celebrates great NYC tourism experiences.
