You're already paying resort fees: These hotels offer you a bang for your buck
Commonly considered nuisances on hotel folios, resort fees may make you cringe. In addition to the cost of your room – and additional taxes – hotels add daily resort fees to your bill to cover the cost of amenities during your stay. These can range from $25 to $50 a day, per room. And, if you're traveling with extended family, these daily assessments can put a deep dent in your vacation budget.
"Hotel resort fees aren't optional, they're simply tacked onto your bill," NerdWallet's travel expert Sara Rathner said.
Instead of bemoaning the fee, a shift in mindset could help you better enjoy your trip. If you find out all the perks you’re entitled to for the fee, and utilize the amenities – you can garner value from your hotel experience.
► Capture still shots: At South Beach’s Loews Miami Beach Hotel, the $32 per day fee offers services like fitness center access, beach chairs, paddleboards and banana boat rides. But, the most unique perk is a 45-minute photoshoot, which can normally cost hundreds of dollars. A professional photographer can capture the memories of your stay in South Beach. The photoshoot includes a one-on-one review of the images and a complimentary branded digital image. The guest also has the option to purchase more images via several packages. So if you're in Miami Beach for a family vacation, bachelorette party, proposal for marriage, or need baby photos, this amenity can be a money saver.
