Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville launches new evocative dinner series, “Wandering Cask"

Debut dinner event featuring Andy Nelson of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery on Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m.

Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, Nashville’s iconic and longest consecutively awarded AAA Four Diamond hotel, is set to debut its newest signature dining series “Wandering Cask” on Thursday, October 26, 2023 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The first Wandering Cask dinner will feature special guest Andy Nelson of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery.

"Wandering Cask" at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel is a celebration of exquisite cuisine expertly composed with locally-sourced ingredients produced by Nashville and Tennessee-based tastemakers. Demonstrating the hotel’s mission to create “Soulfully Inspired, Authentically Nashville” experiences for its guests and community, the first dinner of this new series consists of a five-course tasting dinner paired with select spirits from the distillery’s Nelson Brothers Cask Finish series. As each course is served, Executive Chef Sean Strolle and Head Distiller and Co-Founder Andy Nelson will share the intricate details of how they created their unique menu.

“Our Wandering Cask dinner series intentionally evokes a sense of adventure and exploration, where each gathering is meticulously orchestrated to educate and entertain our guests on a culinary journey,” explains Jereme Pozin, director of food and beverage at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. “It also implies that the dinners may take place in various locations or feature a rotating selection of beverages or dishes, which adds an element of surprise and intrigue for attendees.”

This menu for the Wandering Cask dinner will feature:

  1. First Course: Local goat cheese, apricot syrup, and pepper cress paired with Nelson Brothers Rye
  2. Second Course: Seared scallop, roasted grape, and hazelnut butter paired with Nelson Brothers Cognac Cask Finish

About Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery

In 2006, Andy Nelson, along with his brother Charlie, stumbled upon the discovery that his great-great-great grandfather, Charles Nelson, was the founder of Tennessee’s largest pre-Prohibition distillery and produced the original Tennessee Whiskey. The distillery’s history dates back to 1860 and in 2019, Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery bottled the first batch of Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey since 1909. The modern-day distillery, located at 1414 Clinton St. Nashville, TN 37203, is open to the public seven days a week and offers guided tasting experiences as well as a restaurant, event space and gift and bottle shop.
